Overall, Throttled is an okay sports romance. She has her backbone moments, but they are few and far between. Maya is also a doormat for most of the novel. I cannot tell you how many times Noah shows up in a room and she can only think about how hot and sexy he is at the detriment of everything else. Maya’s inner monologue comes off as juvenile sometimes, especially when Noah is involved at the beginning of the novel. She likes sharing fast-paced stories with angst, steam, and the emotional spectrum. She enjoys writing about flawed yet relatable characters you can’t help loving. Her dream is to travel to all the places she writes about. Throttled is fairly slow at times and lacks the amount of angst I would expect from a romance this long. Self-diagnosed with an overactive imagination, Lauren spends her free time reading and writing. Unfortunately for Throttled, the long page count doesn’t work for the story. 466 pages is on the long side for a romance, but that doesn’t automatically mean it’s not good.
